2016 IRT Raising Some Racquet for Kids - Quarterfinals

The remaining top three seeds all made it into the semi-finals at the International Racquetball Tour (IRT) Raising Some Racquet for Kids tournament in Huber Heights, Ohio, but some of the matches were most curious. Fourth seed Alvaro Beltran’s win over 5th seed Jose Rojas was the most curious, as it went four games and they were all very lopsided. Rojas won the first, then Beltran won the next three to take the match, 3-11, 11-1, 11-0, 11-4.

Beltran will play 9th seed Sebastian Franco in the semi-finals on Saturday, as Franco defeated 17th seed Jeremy Best, 11-4, 11-5, 11-3.

On the other side of the draw, 2nd seed Rocky Carson was also a straight game winner, as he beat Mario Mercado, 11-5, 11-8, 11-9. He’ll face Daniel De La Rosa, who like Beltran dropped the first game to Jansen Allen, then won the next three by increasing margins, taking the match, 7-11, 12-10, 11-7, 11-2. Allen had a significant lead in game two at 9-5, but wasn’t able to close it out, as De La Rosa outscored him 7-1 down the stretch.

The semi-finals will be streamed live Saturday at 11 AM and noon Eastern via the IRT Network. Note that the final is Saturday night at 7:00 PM. All times Eastern.
