Day Three of CACGs

Day two of the 2014 Central American and Caribbean Games in Veracruz, Mexico. The closest game in Women's Singles was between Mariana Tobon of Venezuela and Maria Renee Rodriguez of Guatemala, which went tie-breaker, as Tobon won 15-12, 10-15, 11-9.

Only one tie-breaker in Men's Singles also, as Felipe Camacho of Costa Rica needed three games to beat Edwin Galicia of Guatemala, 14-15, 15-7, 11-2.

One tie-breaker in Women's Doubles, Maria Cespedes and Merynanyelly Delgado of the Dominican Republic beat Lissel and Paula Padilla of Honduras, 8-15, 15-9, 11-5.

Bit of a shocker in Men's Doubles, as the Dominican Republic team of Luis Perez and Junior Rodriguez defeated Colombians Alejandro Herrera and Andres Ramirez, 15-14, 15-14, coming back from 14-13 down in game two to win it in two straight. Herrera is half of the current World Championship doubles team, winning that title last June with Sebastian Franco.

The win should set up a good draw for the the Dominicans in the elimination round, which will start on Wednesday for doubles.

But maybe today's win isn't that much of a surprise, as the Dominican Republic were silver medalists in 2010, when Perez and Simon Perdomo lost to Mexicans Javier Moreno and Polo Gutierrez in the final.
