PARC - 2013 Pan American Championships - Mexican golden in singles

Paola Longoria and Polo Gutierrez won gold in women's and men's singles, respectively, at the 2013 Pan American Championships in Cali, Colombia on Saturday. Longoria won for the 5th time and second consecutive time, as she defeated American Rhonda Rajsich in the final, 15-5, 15-6. Longoria previously won Pan Am Championship gold in 2006, 2008, 2010, as well as 2012.

Gutierrez and Rojas were close in the first game, as they were tied at 7-7 and 9-9. Then Gutierrez pulled ahead to 13-9, and held off Rojas to win game one.

Game two wasn't close, as Gutierrez went out to a 7-0 lead and cruised from there to take the match in two straight games.
