Latest WPRO Rankings

The Women's Professional Racquetball Organization's (WPRO's) latest rankings are out, and with two events left in the season they illustrate how close the race is for the top spot. Paola Longoria, winner of three WPRO events this season including the 2008 US Open, is about 200 points behind Rhonda Rajsich, who has been on top of the rankings for three years.

If Longoria wins the last two events, then she should finish at #1, and be the first Mexican - woman or man - to do so in racquetball history. Furthermore, at 19, she could be the youngest woman to be #1.

Also, according to The Racquetball Blog's records several other players have achieved personal bests in the latest rankings including Adrienne Fisher at #6, Veronica Sotomayor #7, Jennifer Saunders #10, Krystal Csuk #19, and Brandi Jacobson Prentice at #20.

Here's the 20 WPRO players as of March 23, 2009:

Word around the WPRO is that Paola is likely to finish #1. For Rhonda to keep her #1 spot she will have to win out and Paola will have to lose early in the next 2 tournaments. This is partially a result of Paola earning so many points at the US Open (winning it) and Rhonda losing in the quarters.
